Performance Residency -
HopeWerks @ Hope Center
January 7th and 8th at 7:30pm
HopeWerks,
is a space grant offered to choreographers and performance artists to
help assist them in their artistic journey. The artists are given unlimited
rehearsal time over a three-month period and then present a work-in-progress
performance. Reception follows each performance.
Choreographed by Reck Dance Projects
With Jacquelyne Boe, Kristen Frankiewicz, Lydia Hance, Erin Reck, and
Brit Wallis
We explore the impact that a disaster has on a group of people. We peal
back layers of fear, reluctance, shame, desire, control, desperation,
and indifference, to glimpse humanity in its beauty and in its ugliness.
There will be a pile of dirt, a picnic, some take downs, some making out,
some laughs, a few tears, full-throttle dancing, fiery performing, and
a whole lot of humanity.
Music by Octopus Project, Peter Whitehead, Faraualla, and COH + Cosey

I am presenting my body map solo, Dissipating Pathways, inspired
by neuro pathways in the body, a duet about falling apart or having the
bolts that hold you together shaken loose, and another duet about the
attempt to remain standing when your foundation is shaken. There will
be a map, a dress full of bolts and a pile of dirt... and some fierce
dancing, ferocious partnering, and serious dance entertainment. Performing
with the awesomeness that is Brit Wallis.
Also on the program are Leslie Scates, Michelle Garza, Becky Valls and
Karen Schupp. Big Range Dance Festival

Wishing and Willing, a new quartet full of intricate partnering
and full-throttle dancing.
Joy, a solo in 2 parts set to music by Goran Bregovic. Performed
by Erin Reck and Gabriel Zaragoza.
The works combine fluid, full-bodied dancing, idiosyncratic gesture, musicality
and athleticism to create humorous and poignant pieces. Come, come, come.....
you must!!!!
Artistic Residency, Fall Semester - Rice
University
I taught Choreography and Technique to the Rice University dance students....students
were terrific, it was incredibly rewardng! There was an article in the
Rice Magazine about the stregnth of the dance program, and I was mentioned.
" In addition to receiving training from Leslie Scates (Director),
the company benefits from visits by world-renowned guest artists throughout
the year. Students trained in speed choreography as part of a series of
courses in composition and technique. The class, taught by Erin Reck of
New York City’s Reck Dance Projects, challenged students to use
space and varying levels of control and dynamics to create their own dances.
“What we do in here is not about the product but the process,”
Reck told the class. “You are gaining solid tools to then go and
create your product.” Full
